In case anybody wants to know how much an old VW T4 in Germany really costs, this is the awfullest truth:
May 2016 VW T4 start
- 2800 € Buying the T4 (102 PS TDI, 300km)
- 45 € bureaucratic fee at “Kfz-Zulassungsstelle”
- 35 € licence plates
- 80 € ADAC membership, for beeing rescued when the car breaks
- 840 € required insurance fee inkl. 260 non required insurance against theft, broken wind screens and accidents with wildlife, this hopefully decreases when the car is successfully registered as camper
- 401 € annual taxes
- 20 € required materials to remove car sticker (spiritus, sponges etc)
- 250 € four three year old tires on new steel rims
- 4 € high visibility vest
- 10 € first aid kit
- 224,22 € change of motor oil and coolant, incl. TDI corroded tube repair, small battery cable repair, changing wheels (I was lazy)
- 12,95 € spray can of T4s color to fix rust at the local car parts shop
- 9,20 € car wash (no wax or anything but under-body wash)
- 30,30 € incl a 12,99 paint spray can at the local home improvement store for the war against rust
- 303,24 new brake shoes back including to restore the brakes mobility
- 6 € Undercoating spray
- 45 € welding helmet
- 12 € welding gloves
- 15 € rent a workshop with welding tools fee
- 160€ secondary battery type agm
- 60 € decouple relay, several meters 8mm² cable
- 15 € voltmeter and amperemeter
- 10 € cigar lighter socket
